Job Description

DC-Alliance

The Production Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating work activities and resources needed to manufacture products, while meeting continuous improvement objectives in accordance with cost, quality, quantity, and safety goals and specifications.

Major Activities

Production Management

  • Reviews daily plan, forecast and production orders concerning inventory and staffing requirements; work procedures and duty assignments; to successfully meet time-line and budget goals
  • Directs and/or coordinates production activities while driving safety, quality and efficiency to meet facility objectives
  • Prepares and maintains production reports
  • Develops budgets and approves expenditures for supplies, materials, or human resources, ensuring that materials, labor, and/or equipment are used efficiently to meet production
  • Initiates inventory and cost control programs
  • Coordinates and recommends procedures for facility or equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of machines

Leadership

  • Trains, develops, and evaluates production supervisors
  • Support other leaders in strategic objectives; drive SQET
  • Resolves employee relations issues
  • Leads and promotes positive Team Member engagement
  • Implements and monitors plans in support of Team Member development in QMP
  • Manages Team Member performance/development
  • Provides administrative support for Supervisory staff
  • Drives continuous improvement/teams and is a change leader for new projects, processes, standards, and procedures

Quality

  • Develops or implements production tracking or quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, and other operation reports to detect production issues/problems
  • Reviews operations and confers with technical and administrative staff to resolve production issues/problems
  • Ensures all equipment is functioning at optimal levels.  Coordinates and recommends procedures for facility or equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of machines
  • Create professional presentations to include detailed product introduction timeline and raw material delivery schedules; provide weekly progress reports

Safety & Organization

  • Demonstrates leadership to maintain a clean plant, promoting safe and efficient operation
  • Follows and proactively drives all safety requirements; communicating and/or addressing safety concerns in a timely manner
  • Wears appropriate safety equipment at all times

Minimum Education

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in lieu of degree

Minimum Type of experience the job requires

  • Minimum 3 years in progressive leadership roles preferably within a manufacturing environment.

Other

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently; convey and receive information
  • Knowledge of products, production processes, quality control, strategic planning, costs and efficiency; resulting in maximum effectiveness of manufacturing process
  • Detail-oriented and accurate
  • Keen sense of urgency
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills including coaching, collaborating, and providing constructive feedback
  • Ability to critically analyze problems and develop effective solutions
  • Excellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills

Preferred Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field preferred

Preferred Special Certifications or technical skills

  • 2 years’ Lean Manufacturing; Six Sigma

Physical Requirements

  • Occasionally walk and stand; frequently sit
  • Frequently bend from waist and twist
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 30lbs/13.6kgs above shoulders and reach overhead
  • Occasionally push/pull total body and reach horizontally
  • Feel with the touch of the fingers
  • Constantly grasp, carry, and push with both hands
  • Constantly move arms, hands and fingers to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects

Work Environment

  • High noise levels and moving machinery
  • Work environment is not climate-controlled and subject to dust, high/low temperatures
  • Ability to work safely within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
