Job Description

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Cocktail Server - Pool is to provide Hotel/Casino guests with prompt and accurate beverage service and providing unmatched service to all guests in every interaction. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently and accurately takes and delivers orders, possess excellent interpersonal service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor, manages multiple tasks and remain calm in very high paced and stressful environment and works well under pressure.
  • Provides unmatched service to guests at all times.
  • Proactively seeks guest service opportunities.
  • Interacts with pool guests taking drink orders while up-selling and delivering high quality drink orders to the guests in a timely manner.
  • Must be familiar with both semi and modified beverage club service.
  • Maintains assigned areas by keeping them clean and free of debris.
  • Handles cash and credit transactions accurately and efficiently associated with beverage sales and provide appropriate change to the guest based on beverage sales.
  • Knowledge and terminology of beer, wine, and spirits. Must be familiar with domestic and import beers, different types of wine, brand name spirits, and garnishments.
  • Provides accurate directions and information for guest inquires and is knowledgeable about all aspects of Venetian Resort services, features, attractions, promotions and special events.
  • Provide a service or assistance to meet the needs of a guest, client or customer.
  • Proper performance requires knowledge of a specific function or activity and familiarity with policies and procedures of the department.
  • Comply with policies and procedures of the department or section in order to complete service satisfactorily.
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance adhering to Company appearance standards.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Food handler's card (Health card), Alcohol Awareness (TAM) card and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy. 
  • 1 year cocktail service experience in a high volume cash handling setting required.
  • Previous experience at a pool or nightclub preferred.
  • Must possess a general understanding of beer, wine and spirits including specialty drinks.
  • Must maintain cleanliness of work area at all times.
  • Must be able to demonstrate superior customer service skills by presenting a friendly, relaxed and professional demeanor, ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail while meeting business demands.
  • Must have basic knowledge of attractions/restaurants in the Las Vegas area and provided by the Venetian Resort.
  • Must have the ability to speak and to listen in a public forum, basic math skills are required, and ability to handle cash and accurately make change.
  • Must be able to work with others, communicate well, give direction, review the work of others, and provide guidance and counsel when needed to achieve department goals and objectives.
  • Must maintain a positive attitude toward work and interface with hotel guests in a congenial and polite manner.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry service trays of up to 25 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in seasonal heat (100F+) or cold as well as inclement weather.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
