This position will lead new controls/plant automation projects, champion Best Methods teams and standardization processes.  It will also provide support to all areas (Engineering – advanced, program, or development, Manufacturing, Commercial, Quality, etc.) where controls engineering expertise is required, including launch support and customer initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ability to lead/supervise/train skilled technicians across multiple shifts and function in team environment.
  2. Support Operations by troubleshooting, maintaining, and programming all plant equipment.
  3. Fulfill EMSEC Technician role by championing and supporting Tenneco Machine Safety Standard policies and procedures
  4. Complete TMSS machine risk assessments per the TMSS guidelines and templates
  5. Responsible for programming and designing PLC controls for new equipment.
  6. Project Management on new automation projects.
  7. Data collection from Plant Automation
  8. Ability to travel in support of job functions.
  9. Overtime as required/requested.

CRITICAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Allen Bradley Logic PLC controls platforms a necessity, Siemens and Mitsubishi a plus.
  • Experience working with Fanuc, Motoman, and Kuka software and programming.
  • Experience with controls hardware design a necessity.
  • Experience working in the automotive industry is beneficial.
  • HMI programming understanding of basic concepts, familiar with PanelView Plus and PanelView hardware.  Ability to use RSView Studio and PanelBuilder software
  • DeviceNet and Allen Bradley Remote IO experience.
  • Ethernet networking experience
  • Understanding of vision systems.  Ability to design, diagnose and troubleshoot vision applications.
  • Self motivated with good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Heightened organizational skills
  • Ability to use CAD software for electrical print creation / maintenance.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • BSEE or BSME preferred
  • 3-5 years’ experience designing and programming industrial control systems
  • Strong electrical/mechanical/programming troubleshooting skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This job is performed in all areas of building facility including offices and production plant floor on all equipment and machines
  • Varying temperatures ( cold to hot )
  • Infrequent exposure to outside weather environment
  • Fast – paced work environment
  • Small, confined space around some machines / equipment
  • Wet, slippery floors in some areas

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 – 100 lbs.
