Job Description





Purpose



The Crawler Rebuild Service Manager works with Branch Managers and Service Managers within the designated region to coordinate major repairs for crawler cranes and other equipment as needed.



Duties and Responsibilities


• Coordinates major repairs between jobs for crawler cranes and other equipment in the region
• Effectively communicate with branch managers and service managers of locations in the region to schedule transporting cranes to rebuild facility for major repairs
• Forecasts workload based on job schedules and assign work to mechanics, technicians and shop support personnel accordingly through the development of accurate estimates.
• Assists with preventative maintenance and repairs in the shop as needed.
• Collaborate with techs and mechanics to ensure thorough crane inspections and readiness by designated deadlines
• Confirm accuracy and safety of outgoing crawler crane loads from yard.
• Ensures proper records, reports, and procedures are established and followed concerning all service work
• Creates quotes for approval, opens work orders, assigns appropriate mechanics to complete repairs, order parts from vendors and ensure readiness prior to crane leaving for job.
• Confers with vendors as to availability of parts, prices, deliveries, discounts and changes in supplies, materials and equipment offered for sale.
• Implements current and improved systems and procedures in accordance with Company policies for Safety, Operations, Sales and Administrative functions.
• Conducts weekly inventory counts and an annual audit in shops to maintain accuracy in ordering, receiving, usage and adjustments to inventory.
• Actively oversee training and safety practices of employees and correct as needed; actively support and encourage safety training and compliance with all safety procedure
• Maintains records and prepares reports for the department
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements



Education:


• High School diploma or GED
• Certified Crane Inspector preferred

Experience:


• 7+ years’ experience working with heavy equipment; cranes preferred



Skills/Knowledge:


• Advanced knowledge in Mobile Cranes and their transport equipment including designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Advanced computer skills and knowledge of CMMS systems
• Advanced ability to build strategic working relationships
• Expert problem-solving skills and attention to details
• Expert time management and communication skills
• Must be able to pass a drug test, background check, and fit for duty test.

Language Skills:

Must be able to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence and memos and the ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
