Rutherford Regional Health System

Directs the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives. Develops and provides services related to the orientation, continuing education, and assessment of clinical staff. Plans, directs, and implements interdepartmental education/training programs. Applies appropriate procedures and practices to maintain education standards and methodology. Provides consultation to hospital departments regarding education/training. Oversees the program development function which include assessment, design, implementation and evaluation of customized solutions to enhance organization effectiveness. Development, coordination and delivery of the new staff orientation and education activities. Manages all clinical student school affiliation agreements with facility, processes clinical students for clearance, and acts as the point of contact for educational institutions. Works with education institutions providing education/degrees in health careers to ensure valid contracts are in place and to arrange clinical experiences for their students.Oversees and maintains clinical orientation and onboarding processes.
Serves as a consultant/mentor for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice and professional development.Collaborates with Directors and staff to assess the learning needs and competencies of staff.
Maintains competency templates for initial and annual competencies. Monitor departmental completion of competencies and reports trends to Human Resources and CNO with competency requirements for new associates and coordinates annually for all associates, including new hire orientation and competency events. Develops designs and facilitates new hire nursing orientation lectures skill competencies, and computer documentation education/ Evaluates educational offerings based on needs identified, changes in technology and service lines. Identifies educational needs of staff by direct observation, and/or collaboration with nursing management, quality, risk infection control, and other disciplines/departments. Develops. Assigns, and tracks educational requirements of online learning programs such as Health Stream/LifeTalent and Lippincott. Acts as AHA Training Center Coordinator to administer, schedule, and track AHA courses and certifications. Monitors departmental compliance with applicable requirements, including accreditation, legal, and the Joint Commission.Works with CNO and department directors to determine and provide educational needs for the facility.Must complete all education assigned and required for the position including classroom ad on-line course

Job Requirements

Minimum Education
BSN required
Master’s Degree highly preferred

Requires critical thing skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Must possess excellent training/facilitation, organizational and time management skills. Demonstrates proficiency in assessing and coaching, including giving positive or corrective feedback. Excellent communication skills. Maintains professionalism at all times.

Required Skills

Basic Life Support (BLS) required
BLS, ACLS, PAL instructor (within 1 year of hire or transfer)

Required Skills

Licenses: Current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license).

 Minimum Work Experience

3-5 years hospital Clinical Education Management
Program development and evaluation experience required.
Knowledge of regulatory agency standards required.

Proficient computer knowledge including: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
