Job Description

Arconic Tennessee Operations has an opportunity for an HR Business Partner.  This opening is located at one of the most modern aluminum fabricating facilities in the world. Our plants produce high-quality molten metal and aluminum sheet and are recognized as a world leader in the business. The facility has been located at the Foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains for 100 years and continues to thrive and grow. 

This position is responsible for providing advice and counsel to internal partners on labor relations, HR policies, and programs related to employee engagement, job assignment and progression, talent planning, and other general human resource topics. The incumbent communicates continually with all levels of personnel and management in Operations, Maintenance, and Staff departments, as well as with Union representatives, the Union Bargaining Committee, the Plant Manager, HR staff, and the internal Legal team.

Major Job Duties:

  1. Maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with legal department as needed/required.
  2. Advise, counsel, and support Operations, Maintenance, and Staff personnel departments by providing expertise in areas such as: labor relations, workforce planning, recruitment, inclusion and diversity, performance management, compensation, and talent development.
  3. Assist management with CBA and/or policy interpretation, as well as provide guidance on HR related procedures and programs.
  4. Respond to grievances, review disciplinary programs, conduct investigations, resolve employee relations issues, prepare for arbitrations, and participate in union contract negotiations.
  5. Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  6. Assist in the implementation of Company-wide HR strategies that support successful business outcomes.
  7. Partner with location HR team to ensure consistent administration of HR processes and compliance with legal and audit requirements.

  1. Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills; able not to take issues personally.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Highly competent in building and managing business relationships.
  4. Strong organization skills.
  5. Ability to prioritize and conduct multiple ongoing projects.

Qualifications - External

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in an HR Generalist, HR Business Partner, Labor Relations or other related role.
  3. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or related discipline.
  2. Certified Labor Relations Professional (CLRP) Certification.
  3. Two-years of Labor Relations experience, having relationships with all levels of employees, management, and union officials.
  4. Significant and increasing labor relations experience and responsibilities in a manufacturing organization.
