Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for applying engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products. Functions performed may include determining the machines, equipment, and tools, and the sequence of operations necessary to perform production and assembly operations, recommending the design of production machines and other plant equipment, and advising and assisting vendors with design problems in connection with tools, gauges, and equipment designed for use in manufacturing.

  • Manages projects related to productivity, safety, ergonomics, or other initiatives to support the manufacturing process and warehouse operations.
  • Develops business case to justify projects (cost analysis, risks, opportunities)
  • Proposes, develops & implements changes to manufacturing process.
  • Coordinates activities with various internal & external customers.
  • Selects and manages equipment and material sources and ensures project deadlines are met.
  • Works with engineering and marketing teams to determine best processes, materials, to improve or develop manufacturing processes. 
  • Responsible for applying engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continually improve manufacturing processes and products.
  • Determine the machines, equipment, tools and the sequences of operations necessary to perform production and assembly operations.
  • Recommend the design of production machines and other plant equipment.
  • Actively participates on teams and teammates to provide improvements in Safety, Quality, and Productivity
  • Supports operations with daily production issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 2-3 years of relevant manufacturing experience with a preference to automotive.
  • CAD experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge and application of problem solving, Lean, Six Sigma and cost savings analysis.
  • Ability to obtain or currently have certification in Lean for Manufacturing, Lean Product Development, and Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
  • Warehouse experience is a plus.
  • SAP system experience a plus.

Skills:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet critical deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Medium to advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365.
  • Interest in effectuating change and communicating across various levels of the organization to meet project needs.
  • Goal-oriented and capable of working independently and as a team leader.
  • MS Excel proficient preferred
  • Analytical trouble shooting and problem solving.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Vision abilities required include close vision.
  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
