Support Center - Irving

The Manager - Freight Audit & Payment oversees the day-to-day operations of the freight audit team. Key functions include ensuring that all payments are processed accurately in accordance with contracts, owning the month-end accrual process, including proper identification of all freight expenses, owning the carrier chargeback and dispute process, managing rate integrity across modes, and managing and leading the Freight Audit team.

Major Activities

Freight Audit & Payment Management:

Manage freight audit team consisting of local and offshore resources to efficiently audit and pay freight invoices across ocean, air, LTL, TL, and dedicated TL, totaling more than $300 million annually.

  • Management of three team members and offshore support.
  • Responsible for ownership of month-end accrual processes, month-end close, and ensuring all freight expenses are properly identified, paid, and/or accrued in the correct fiscal period.
  • Monitor and manage carrier invoice aging reports.
  • Oversee freight audits performed by 3rd party partners.
  • Ensure Freight Audit Analysts identify, escalate, and resolve invoice disputes and exceptions.
  • In coordination with Supply Chain Finance, manage monthly P&L close process.
  • Partner with Systems/Finance/Internal teams to ensure freight is being allocated correctly.
  • Administering Carrier Chargebacks for select transportation codes.
  • Dispute management of Carrier Chargebacks.
  • Collaborate with the reporting team to create/maintain reporting to support KPI and business performance monitoring.

Team Leadership:

  • Build a diverse and high-performing team through actively recruiting, hiring, and training new team members.
  • Coach and provide feedback to grow talent.
  • Conduct performance management including reviews, IDP conversations.

Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or significant applicable experience in Transportation and Logistics Management

Minimum Special Certifications or technical skills

  • Minimum of intermediate skills in Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of Transportation Management Systems and how they can be leveraged to drive efficiency and accuracy in freight audits and payment processes.

Minimum Type of experience the job requires

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in Accounts Payable/Finance or Transportation / Logistics operations within an organization with at least $1 billion in annual sales.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management and significant experience in Transportation and Logistics Management.

Preferred Special Certifications or technical skills

  • Working knowledge and experience with BlueYonder TMS.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Oracle.

Preferred Type of experience the job requires

  • Significant experience working in logistics and transportation management with a large-scale retail chain.
