Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Manager – Safety is to oversee and enforce the safety policies and procedures of the Company. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. This is a safety-related position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Organize and chair Facilities and Development Safety Committee.
  • Work directly with Property Safety Director.
  • Research and coordinate implementation of regulatory agencies governing the operations of The Venetian Resort, i.e., OSHA, EPA, CCFD.
  • Provide Safety information and requirements for Engineering (309 engineers), PAD, Tech Services, and Aviation Department.
  • Write and implement compliance programs.
  • Remove Team Members and contractors from any jobs that are being performed in an unsafe manner/environment or outside OSHA standards. 
  • Ensure that all OSHA regulations are understood and complied with by members of the Facilities team.
  • Organize training classes, i.e. Annual Training, Fire Extinguisher Training, and Fall Protection.
  • Maintain records of Team Members in Engineering, PAD, Tech Services, and Aviation.
  • Maintain disposal of hazardous materials.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain records of all hazardous disposals, including packing training and Annual Inspections from NDEP and SNHD.
  • Coordinate with Insurance Companies and Fire Department onsite inspections.
  • Oversee that all Safety programs are being maintained and equipment is available.
  • Inspect shop to include proper chemical storage and MSDS Binder review.
  • Lead monthly safety meetings.
  • Investigate safety incidents and prepares evaluation reports when needed.
  • Inspect scrim and scaffolding of Condo Tower for general safety.
  • Identify and reports items that may need fixing and provide analysis and recommendations if needed.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create procedures for emergency evacuations.
  • Inspect the Window Cleaning Suspension System annually to determine if any repair and/or maintenance is needed.
  • Inspect for mold abatement.
  • Conduct Slip Coefficient tests and tenant inspections.
  • Manage responsibilities for the department to include: hiring of new Team Members, promotions, creating a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, discipline, recognition, and termination. 
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Company Standards of Conduct

All Venetian Resort Team Members are expected to conduct and carry themselves in a professional manner at all times. Team Members are required to observe the Company’s standards, work requirements and rules of conduct.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any certification or license, as required by law or policy. 
  • Training certifications in OSHA 501.
  • 5 years of experience in a safety supervisory position with a large corporation.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to present to large groups and conduct training programs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
