Job Description

Havasu Regional Medical Center

Performs diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid physicians in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease states.


Analyzes test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits, and reports/documents results per organizational standards.

Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids, and stool.
Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells, using microscopic techniques and procedures.
Prepares blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions by conducting blood group, type, and compatibility tests.
Ensures operation of analyzers and other laboratory equipment by calibrating; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Maintains inter- and intradepartmental work flow by fostering a spirit of cooperation, excellent communication skills and teamwork amongst hospital departments.
Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control and hazardous waste policies and protocols; following patient identification procedures.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor 's degree in Medical Technology or related scientific field of study required.


Certifications Required:
Certification by ASCP, HEW, or AMT

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
