JOB OPPORTUNITY:  Nuclear Quality Engineer

This individual will function as the Quality Engineer for the site Nuclear Quality Programs and Non-Nuclear U and S stamps reporting to the Nuclear Quality Manager. The nuclear program includes 10CFR50 appendix B, 10 CFR 21, ASME section III, ASME NQA-1. The candidate will also be expected to help maintain the Approved Vendors List and be able to travel and conduct  Supplier audits and surveys of the company’s sub-suppliers and service suppliers. Additional responsibilities include technical and quality review of document packages supporting the Code and Nuclear products. Knowledge and understanding of the process of performing Commercial Grade Dedication of Item and Services (CGD) is essential.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review Sec III Customer POs and ensure the Sales order / Part setup/ Routings are setup per the customer requirement before releasing to the next step.
  • Perform Internal audits as per the Nuclear QMS requirement.
  • Conduct audits/surveys of suppliers and create associated audit/survey reports.
  • Co-ordinate with ANI approval/ inspections as required per the Customer PO/ Internal Sales order.
  • Coordinate all Nuclear QA/QC requirements within the site.
  • Interface with regulators, external auditors, customers, and company stakeholders
  • Support site initiatives to improve quality and reduce rework.
  • Review CGD packages for dedication
  • Perform technical and quality reviews of document packages support Code and Safety related product.
  • Travel, as needed, to support maintenance of the Approved Vendors List.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • ANSI/ASME NQA-1 program, and knowledge of 10CFR21.
  • Non-conformance reporting requirements
  • Comfortable with a changing, fast paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proficient in all MS products: Excel, Word etc.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science or demonstrated equivalent experience is mandatory.
  • 5+ years direct working knowledge and experience with 10CFR50 Appendix B Nuclear Quality Program or ANSI/ASME NQA-1 program, and knowledge of 10CFR21 - Non-conformance reporting requirements.
  • Experience with nuclear quality standards and ASME Codes.
  • Experience in interfacing with supplier quality personnel in the conduct of audits. ANSI 45.2.23/NQA-1 Lead Auditor Certified.
