We are looking for a Plant Manager. The Plant Manager directs and manages all plant operations to ensure that the plant is in compliance with and continually improves safety, quality, delivery, profitability/financial reporting and business plan tracking.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly responsible for providing leadership, coaching, mentoring, guidance and training to the Manufacturing team as needed.  Also serve as a teacher of these management skills to direct reports and others as the opportunity arises.
  • Develops strategies and budgets to achieve operational goals in the areas of safety, delivery, quality and cost.
  • Implement and continually monitor safe work practices in VS. Conduct required safety audits and assure that all other employees follow safe work practices. Achieve/improve the plant’s safety metrics
  • Meet or exceed the plant’s productivity goal (pieces/hour) and ensure that labor is flexed
  • Ensure delivery targets (OE/OES/AM) are met or exceeded with adherence to plant quality, scrap, inventory and shipping cost objectives
  • Ensure the implementation of employee training and development objectives
  • Create an environment of mutual trust and respect and motivation
  • Responsible for continuously improving efficient and lean production within established budgets and manufacturing costs while providing the highest necessary standards of quality and delivery to our customers.
  • Establishes standards of performance, measures results, analyzes improvement opportunities and implements processes/solutions to maximize overall manufacturing performance.
  • Develops and implements systems supporting teamwork, employee involvement, effective operations and skill-set development of manufacturing personnel to promote personal growth and internal advancement.
  • Works directly with the Plant Staff Team to establish short and long- range operating tactics in support of the Strategic Plan and company objectives.
  • Coordinates plant activities through departmental managers to ensure corporate, group, and plant objectives are met.
  • Develops and controls profits, plans, and budgets.  Ensures plant personnel maintain standards necessary to work within budgetary restrictions.
  • Deploys corporate Lean Manufacturing and other productivity initiatives.
  • Ensures plant produces parts meeting or exceeding customer demands, delivered on time, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Implements cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, staffing, wages, and salaries.
  • Oversees capital asset maintenance, including maintaining existing plant facilities and equipment, and replacing or making adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
  • Incorporates safety, shop floor organization, and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.
  • Provides leadership and training to accomplish company goals and objectives as well as development for personnel.
  • Ensures compliance with state, federal, and country regulations.
  • Acts as a Safety Committee staff representative, conducts safety inspections, and ensures that the EHS services are performed in a timely manner.
  • Ensures compliance with all EHSMS policies and procedures.
  • Manages Capital Expenditure process at plant level regarding all purchases for building, grounds, equipment, tooling, etc.
  • Sees that company policies and programs are effectively made known; cooperates and assists in the development of effective communications.
  • Recommends projects for research and development on machines, equipment, methods and processes.

EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree and 7 years of manufacturing (or equivalent combination of formal education and experience) with firsthand experience in at least three (3) of the following areas: 

Hourly supervision, salaried supervision, quality management/engineering, manufacturing engineering, maintenance management, human relations management, financial management, labor contract negotiations, or operations management.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in Microsoft word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Promotes a positive employer-employee relation. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with all levels of management and hourly employees in a group setting as well as a one to one basis.
  • Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrates leadership ability, conflict resolution and problem solving.
  • Financially savvy; understand the drivers of manufacturing costs; previous experience in efficiency improvements
  • Demonstrated understanding and hands-on experience with the implementation of lean manufacturing principles. Exhibits a passion for business process improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team. Excellent relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrates leadership ability, conflict resolution and problem solving
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with all levels of management and hourly employees
  • Good interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy, are necessary to supervise employees in a fair and consistent manner
  • Must be able to counsel, guide and evaluate the work of others in a manner that motivates the achievement of company goals
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Must be willing to travel
