Position Summary

  • Direct reporting to Plant Manager. 
  • Core member of location’s lead team.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to Production Departments and Shift Supervisors in execution of the Production and Shipping Plan/Schedule.
  • Provide leadership and coordinate strategic business initiatives required to drive process improvement throughout the manufacturing and shipping processes, in pursuit of operational excellence.
  • Apply knowledge and skills in Environmental Health and Safety to drive disciplined systems in support of an injury free work culture.
  • Apply knowledge in quality systems and lean manufacturing to drive robust processes, and focused standardization of best practices for continuous improvement. 
  • Manage a cohesive set of key performance metrics for Safety, Quality, Operational Productivity and Customer Service.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and report out on production and shipping performance to Plant Manager. Key areas of accountability include but are not limited to: People Engagement (CBA administration), Safety metrics (TRIR, DART, FAs, etc.), Quality (PPM, Scrap, Rework, etc.), Service (OTIF, DoD, Past Due Orders), and Operational Productivity (labor cost and volume optimization).  
  • Conduct deep dives to identify the root cause of manufacturing issues and bring them to successful resolution.
  • Engage the workforce and the supervisory team in problem solving initiatives and ensure the disciplined execution of manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Analyze plant production performance and preemptively implement necessary actions/countermeasures for successful execution of the production and shipping schedule.
  • Communicate and follow up with supervisors on daily/weekly/monthly requirements.
  • Build a high-performance support team by enhancing a diversity of cultures, thoughts and perspectives throughout the production team
  • Manage the development of talent with a focus on individual development and succession opportunities with the company
  • Continuous improvement: Develop a structure to identify and deploy best practices for the core production processes.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager. 

Essential Knowledge & Skills/Education 

  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills coupled with excellent oral and written communication skills to obtain results through others.  Must be able to direct multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing priorities.
  • Microsoft Office Suite and JDE experience preferred.
  • Job requires holding the team accountable through daily execution of the plan. When required, he/she will need to be able to dive into details to ensure operational success.

  • Time management and Effectiveness: Managing one's own time and the time of others effectively.

General Qualifications/Experience

  • 5 years related manufacturing supervisory experience. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business from an accredited institution
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in Canada.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Qualifications/Experience 

  • 10 years related manufacturing experience, with minimum 5 years in a supervisory capacity. 
  • Knowledge of principles and application of Lean Manufacturing and Quality Systems and Production Planning.
  • Highly developed oral (influencing) and written communication skills.
  • Aspirations to grow into a more senior role.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing systems and processes
  • Knowledge of the architectural aluminum construction industry with particular expertise on people-paced processes in production environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the innate ability to work with a wide variety of different personalities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex issues and derive suitable business solutions.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, demanding manufacturing environment
