Job Description

Yahoo is a global media and tech company that connects people to their passions. We reach hundreds of millions of people around the world, bringing them closer to what they love—from finance and sports, to shopping, gaming and news—with the trusted products, content and tech that fuel their day. For partners, we provide a full-stack platform for businesses to amplify growth and drive more meaningful connections across advertising, search and media.

Job Overview:

We are looking for a Senior Health Editor to lead the development and creation of trusted shopping guides in the health and wellness space. In this role, you’ll create product reviews and best of lists in the health and wellness categories, focused on a middle-age to senior audience — think hearing aids, supplements, DNA testing kits, etc — for Yahoo and AOL.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned health editor with a proven track record of creating successful commerce content. You’ll implement a health-specific vetting process for use across properties, and review interview experts to compile top best lists, along with testing products yourself and managing the testing process across a testing panel, when appropriate. You’ll be game to roll up your sleeves and create content yourself, manage a small team of in-house writers, and come with a stable of freelance writers to help scale content as we grow. You’re an SEO wizard, with deep experience researching and creating content that’s highly visible to search engines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a vetting and testing process for health and wellness-related products

  • Write and edit reviews and best lists

  • Manage a small team of in-house health writers

  • Grow a stable of freelance health writers

  • Work with our SEO and updates editors to maintain content through the year

  • Be willing to have a “start-up mentality” as we work together to build out your team

  • Utilize SEO best practices to optimize content for search engines and improve content performance

  • Stay up-to-date on trends in the health and wellness industry and identify new opportunities for content development.

  • Monitor and analyze content performance to identify opportunities for optimization and growth

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field

  • 8+ years of experience as a health editor, with a focus on commerce and shopping content

  • Strong writing and editing skills with an ability to create engaging and informative content

  • Pro-level experience in SEO best practices and optimizing content for search engines

  • Knowledge of the health and wellness industry, including trends, products, and services

  • Experience managing a team of writers and editors, including hiring, training, and performance management

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

  • Strong analytical skills and experience with content performance analysis

If you are a seasoned health editor with a passion for commerce and shopping content, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity to lead the development of high-quality content that informs, educates, and drives sales.
