Michaels Software Development Engineers will develop technologies that change how our customers connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a Software Development Engineer, you will work on projects critical to Michaels needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our Engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.

  • Design and develop RESTful APIs and microservices using Java/J2EE technologies, Spring Boot, and related technologies.

  • Implement best practices for software design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance throughout the software development life cycle.

  • Basic understanding with front-end technologies such as ReactJs to Integrate APIs.

  • Integrate web services using SOAP and RESTful APIs for seamless communication between applications.

  • Collaborate with database administrators to design and optimize database schemas, queries, and stored procedures for RBBMS and NoSQL DB.

  • Ensure code quality and reliability through comprehensive testing using tools like JUnit, and Postman.

  • Use containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes for efficient deployment and scaling of applications.

  • Employ version control tools like GIT, BitBucket to manage source code and facilitate collaboration among team members.

  • Offshore and onsite team collaboration and lead technology activities

Minimum Education

  • Masters Degree or higher in Computer Science, or equivalent experience

Minimum Special Certifications or Technical Skills

  • Worked with large scale web traffic and data with strong foundation in Data Structures, Algorithms, Linear Algebra.

  • Advanced experience in Java, Python, C,  C++, MongoDB, MySQL, and/or other major programming languages

  • Experience in building search systems such as Elastic, SORL, Lucene , Algolia

  • Building large-scale data pipelines

  • Expertise with cloud services, such as AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure.

  • Experience in machine learning/computer vision/natural language processing applications
