Responsibilities

• Hands-on development of next-generation tooling and infrastructure of Yahoo! for Creators.

• Help to scope, plan, and implement best-in-class software practices, procedures, and delivery.

• Contribute to implementation guidelines and execution strategy for your team’s goals.

• Collaborate with both peers and leaders on new customer-facing features.

• Responsible for the definition, design, development and timely completion of large complex services to support new products and features.

• Performing code reviews for your peers where you will be learning from and contributing to a collaborative working model

• Taking ownership of services and APIs of a web application that will impact millions of users.

• Working with engineering team members to explore and create interesting solutions while sharing knowledge amongst the team.

• Collaborating with engineering leadership and product managers, and other engineers to deliver platform improvements and bug fixes

• Collaborate with other engineers to write testable, reliable code, continuously deploying to production systems

• Growing in a culture of learning through design discussions and code reviews

• Deploy, monitor and operate large scale production systems distributed across the globe

• Recommend alternative approaches to solving complex problems and use new technology to achieve goals

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience

• 7+ years of software development experience with Java, C+, and/or Python

• Deep understanding of algorithms and data structures

• Experience with DBMS such as Redis

• Experience with event-driven services such as Kafka, PubSub

• High proficiency with OOP, system design, and database systems

• Experience with design and development of REST APIs and/or GraphQL

• Deep understanding of web technologies

• Expert knowledge of web application performance, stability and debugging

• Experience with container technologies such as Docker

• Experience with GCP or AWS

• Strong technical, analytical and communication skills

• Working knowledge of React.js and Node.js

• [Plus] Experience with account management or content management systems

The compensation for this position ranges from $180,310.00 - $392,430.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives. Yahoo has a high degree of flexibility around employee location and hybrid working. In fact, our flexible-hybrid approach to work is one of the things our employees rave about. Most roles don’t require specific regular patterns of in-person office attendance.
