Evaluates and treats patient populations for swallowing, speech-language and therapy needs. Develops and conducts speech pathology/ audiology programs designed to assist patients with communicative, cognitive, hearing and swallowing disorders.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs and documents initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
  • Designs and implements a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient and family.
  • Educates and counsels patients and families regarding treatment plans and progress. Attends and participates in patient care coordination meetings, team and family conferences, as needed.
  • Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services.
  • Supervises activities of clinical fellows, students, and other support personnel.
  • Evaluation of inpatient performed within twenty-four (24) hours of received orders. Completion of electronic outpatient evaluation within 72 working hours of visit

Job Requirements

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, required. Master’s degree preferred.

Required Skills:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)Current Speech Pathologist License with the Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (VA)
