EHS Coordinator

Arconic Alcoa, TN (Onsite) Full-Time

Arconic is currently in search of an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator to join our Global Rolled Products (GRP) business unit in Alcoa, TN

Arconic’s Tennessee Operations, is one of the most modern aluminum fabricating facilities in the world. Our plants produce high-quality molten metal and aluminum sheet and are recognized as a world leader in the business. The facility has been located at the Foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains for 100 years and continues to thrive and grow. 

The EHS Coordinator plays a key leadership role in reducing risk of incident and injury and will drive implementation of Human Performance systems. EHS Coordinators work closely with location manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, and support staff personnel to develop and deploy a wide-range of comprehensive EHS systems that support Arconic’s commitment to respect the environment and the health of our employees, our customers, and the communities where we operate.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the environmental, health, and safety training coordination and implementation for all Tennessee Operations employees
  • Monitor, track, and report key EHS metrics, and ensure compliance with federal, state, local and corporate regulatory programs
  • Performs internal self-assessment activities (ASATs)
  • Provide technical guidance and support to manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, and support staff regarding health and safety matters
  • Maintain technical expertise and serve as a location resource on applicable regulations, codes, and standards regarding health and safety incident prevention
  • Update and conduct EHS training on health and safety topics that meet OSHA and company requirements.
  • Assist with incident investigations to ensure completeness and accuracy; develop and track corrective actions 
  • Participates in hands-on in leading ABS activities through A3s, TPM, Kaizen, or problem solving methodology
  • Works with data and analysis tools to identify potential safety and environmental issues
  • Assesses training effectiveness and employee competence
  • Implementation of regulatory and corporate engineering standards & ASAT audit requirements in programs such as exposure assessments, hazardous materials management, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, radiation/laser safety, asbestos, ergonomics, confined space, health hazard controls, and specific health hazards
  • Support exposure assessments on physical and chemical agents in the facility and provide recommendations on the implementation of engineering controls, personal protective equipment, and work practices based on interpretation of sampling data.

This role is primarily day shift, Monday-Friday. However, it is expected the incumbent works off-shifts as needed to support the functions of this role and are on call as first line help chain 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of environmental, health, and safety experience.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational/Environmental Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, Safety Science, or a related field, from an accredited college or university.
  • 4+ years of environmental, health, and safety experience.
  • Professional safety and/or health certifications (CSP, CIH, ASP) strongly desired.
  • Experience in a heavy manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • Prefer demonstrated proficiency in program development, incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and driving continuous improvement.
