Certified Medical Assistant

A non-exempt medical office position responsible for the smooth flow of patients in the medical office under the direction of a physician, assists medical providers, and maintains a clean and safe environment in accordance with the policies and procedures of the practice.

Licensed Practical Nurse

This position provides delivery of patient care with the knowledge of a Licensed Practical Nurse. Must demonstrate the clinical ability to work as a LPN under the supervision of the Registered Nurse on the Unit to which assigned. Must be able to coordinate the delivery of patient care on the Unit; completes required documentation; participates in the patient/family teaching and discharge planning, effectively utilizing the Nursing Process. Works cooperatively and effectively with physicians, ancillary staff and other administrative and support personnel in maintaining the standards of professional nursing practice in the multidisciplinary clinical setting. Maintains quality delivery of patient care by completing patient assignments in compliance with the Nursing Process, the North Carolina Nurse Practice Act, and established Hospital Policies and Procedures.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education
Certified Medical Assistant 

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Associate's Degree in Medical Assistant preferred.

Licensed Practical Nurse

Associates Degree or Diploma in LPN required.

 Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

 Certifications
Certified Medical Assistant

BLS- required

Licensed Practical Nurse

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Handle with Care within 3 months of hire

Licenses:
Certified Medical Assistant

  • Credentialed Medical Assistant (Certified or Registered)
  • BLS certification required, or obtained during first week of hire
  • Phlebotomy Certification- Preferred

Licensed Practical Nurse

Current LPN license to practice in NC (NC license or multi-state compact license).

Minimum Work Experience
Certified Medical Assistant: Prior experience working in a physician office is preferred.
Licensed Practical Nurse: At least 1 year of LPN experience
