Job Description
Lake Cumberland Regional HospitalApplies the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to individual patient health information for data retrieval, analysis, and claims processing.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education
• High School graduate or equivalent.
Minimum Work Experience
• Must have 1-2 years Inpatient coding experience in an acute care hospital setting.
Required Skills
• Must have current RHIA or RHIT or CPC-H or CCS or CCS-P certification and keep certification up to date required. CCDS or CDIP preferred.
• AND Must pass a coding proficiency test with at least 85% accuracy.
Required Skills
Must have thorough understanding of ICD-10 Official Coding Guidelines for Coding and Reporting and AHA Coding Clinic; HCPCS/CPT coding systems and CPT Assistant and Coding Clinic for HCPCS guidelines; Medicare Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS), and Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC).

Has knowledge of and abides by HIM coding policies/procedures.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
