Job Description

Vaughan Regional Medical Center

Administers anesthetic care for patients requiring anesthesia, sedation, and/or pain relief therapy.
Responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling the clinical practice for anesthesia department.  Supports the goals of Vaughan Regional Medical Center and the Department of Anesthesia and provides direction in the attainment of these goals and objectives.  Establishes standards of practice and performance and installs methods of monitor their achievements.  Practices fiscal management to include human and material resources.  Administers safe anesthesia for each patient after doing a complete anesthetic assessment.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education
X Master's degree (Must be a graduate of an Anesthesia Education Program) □ Preferred X Required 

Education: Education:  Must be a graduate of an AnesthesiaEducation Program, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and currentlylicensed by the Alabama Board of Nursing and the National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). Current Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in the state of Alabama. Previous experience in an acutehospital strongly preferred. Both licensure and certification/re-certificationmust be current at all times and available for inspection. 


Required Skills
Certifications:
X Basic Life Support (BLS) X Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) X Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
BLS must be current within 30 days from hire date. ACLS & PALS must be current within 6 months from hire date.

 

Experience: Two years clinicalexperience preferred.

 

Skills: Must possess thoroughunderstanding of Anesthesia care of the patients, JCAHO standards andperformance improvement process.  Must beable to communicate effectively with the patients, guests, physicians andhospital personnel.

 

PhysicalRequirements:  Mustbe able to sit and stand for extended periods, walk at least 8 hours per day,lift/carry 50 pounds, hear alarms and telephone rings, distinguish colors,perform repetitive tasks/motions, have good eye/hand/foot coordination, andhave clear vision at 20 or more feet with vision corrective device.
