Job Requirements

Minimum Education
Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
Is registered or eligible for registry by the ARRT in Radiography.
Is registered or eligible for registry by the ARRT in CT or MRIBLS required.
Required Skills
Familiarity with organization and functions of each hospital department.
Ability to motivate personnel, problem-solve effectively and handle stress in a positive manner.
Maintain harmonious relationships with nursing personnel, medical staff, hospital administration, and all hospital departments.
Essential Functions
Possesses the knowledge and skills to safely screen patients for CT and MRI procedures.
Is familiar with the proper procedure for screening patients for contrast risks, injecting contrast, and contrast reactions.
Starts INT’s using proper technique.
Must have excellent customer service skills.
Administers Oral and IV contrast under the direction and supervision of a Radiologist.
Is able to perform all essential Radiographic, CT and MRI procedures per protocol for all age groups including: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Is familiar with the RIS, Teleradiology, Teleneurology, AW Workstation, and PACS systems.
Is familiar with and follows HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality.
Takes call as scheduled.
Maintains Continuing Education credits as required by the ARRT.
Knows and follows Environment of Care standards.
Participates in Joint Commission preparation and compliance.
Participates in Performance Improvement activities.
Reports to work on time as scheduled.
Demonstrates good radiation safety practices.
Monitors departmental activities to ensure accuracy and efficiency of procedures.
Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient.
Interacts professionally with patients, patient’s families, physicians, physician’s offices, and other departments throughout the hospital to ensure the appropriate and highest quality of patient care.
Able to safely operate all Radiographic, CT and MRI equipment.
Provides patient education.
Assists in maintaining records and reports.
Transports patients/equipment from one floor to another by elevator.
Work involves potential exposure to ionizing radiation.
Engage others’ in a meaningful way Seek ways to positively influence others.
Functional Demands
Work requires physical ability such as walking, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting heavy objects/patients (patients 300+ pounds), stooping and climbing stairs.
Walking intermittently through halls of hospital and outside.
Involves mental activity and problem-solving, to include the ability to implement solutions.
May be exposed to injury by irrational or disturbed patients, patients with communicable diseases, and/or potentially dangerous equipment.
Risk of exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials.
Exposure to blood, body fluid and hazardous wastes is moderate to frequent and must carry out universal precautions according to hospital policy.
Bending required frequently, 45-90 degree angles, to check patients, to operate machinery.
Speech, hearing, reading, writing and visual acuity necessary in order to perform job requirements.
