Job Summary:



The HR Generalist provides HR support to hospital staff and leaders. This role performs HR-related duties on a professional level and carries out responsibilities in employee relations, recruiting, regulatory compliance, worker compensation management and return to work/ADAAA compliance.



The GENERALIST will operate under the guidance of a local Human Resource Operations Partner but often works independently to assist leaders and assure objectivity and fairness for employees while supporting the Mission, Vision and Core Values of the company.



The GENERALIST will report directly to the Hospital Human Resource Operations Partner. This role will support and monitor implementation of company initiatives, policies and procedures, and assure compliance and consistency across the hospital system.



General Responsibilities:


  • General Office duties (phones, filing, organizational work)

  • Computer work (must have experience with word, excel, and power point.

  • Customer Service (must have the ability to multi-task and help people to locate the appropriate resource for their needs.


Employee Relations


  • This role initiates, organizes and updates employee files. This includes tracking employee progress, noting promotions, recognitions and policy violations and documenting them accordingly. They ensure that current and former employee files are maintained according to law.

  • In an ongoing capacity, this individual works with leaders on mid to low level employee relations issues. This involves receiving and effectively handling employee complaints, escalating these complaints to the level of disciplinary or leadership action when necessary, updating employees with any changes in company policy, advising supervisors on treatment of staff and company policies, responding to employee violations of policy and generally helping to resolve conflict in the workplace.

  • Facilitates the departure process of employees who leave voluntarily; conducts exit interviews and administers severance if applicable during potential Reduction in Force situations. Assures that the HR Operations Partner is involved in and lends guidance to any and all involuntary termination decisions.

  • Demonstrates empathetic interpersonal skills and ability to influence others, while building trust. Exercises good judgement and problem solving skills and maintains confidential information at the highest degree of compliance.





Recruiting


  • Executes on recruiting plans to include networking through industry contacts, using social media and implementing LifePoint tools and resources.

  • Works with hiring managers on regular recruiting update meetings.

  • Updates job descriptions as changes dictate.

  • Work with leaders to assure timely interviewing and selection decisions are made.

  • Develop and maintain pools of candidates where possible for commonly open positions.

  • Identify and recommend new sources for active and passive candidate recruiting.

  • Work with local colleges and nursing leaders to cultivate relationships.

  • Work with Service Center to assure timely onboarding of new employees.

  • Within approved scope, assist with compensation range development and rate assignment (subject to leadership approval).

  • Effectively manage orientation process.

  • Assist leaders with 30, 60, 90 day feedback process.

  • Effectively manage candidates through applicant tracking system (Taleo).



Regulatory/Risk


  • Understands TJC and CMS HR requirements.

  • Maintains files and assists HR Leader with regulatory compliance.

  • Assures leaders submit HR requirements (both original and annual) to include performance evaluations, department orientation and competencies on all staff.

  • Monitors and tracks that regulatory standards are in compliance.

  • Audits files periodically for compliance.

  • Assists HR Leader as requested during surveys.

  • Manages all employee files to include (scanning, filing, auditing).



Work Comp/Return to Work/ADAAA


  • Coordinates Work Comp Reporting and Return to Work (RTW) processes

  • Meets regularly with leaders to provide status on injured employees

  • Assists HR Leader with interactive ADAAA conversation process

  • Assures RTW and ADAAA conversations are clearly documents; uses standard forms for agreed upon accommodations.

  • Maintains appropriate contact with all associates on leave and coordinates aspects of return to work for those on leave.





Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or equivalentrelated work experience preferred.

  • PHR, SPHR or SHRM-CP certificationpreferred

  • 2 years previous HR experiencepreferred
