Job Description

Raleigh General Hospital

Assists in the maintenance of patient records and organization and administrative operations of the Health Information Management Department.

Reports to: Director of Health Information Management

Analyzes the assembled record for chart completion deficiencies, in accordance with regulatory requirements and medical staff rules and regulations.

Ensures any deficiencies are assigned to the appropriate medical staff member and data is entered for tracking and monitoring purposes.

Reviews documentation and updates or clears the deficiencies as appropriate.

Responsible for answering telephone calls and assisting visitors (including but not limited to physicians, patients, and their family members), while maintaining confidentiality.

Assists in administrative functions in the department

Coordinates quality on EHR chart

Assists with training of new physicians

Provides feedback to Director

FLSA: Non-exempt

Job Requirements

Minimum Education

 High school diploma or equivalent Required

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.


Required Licenses

[West Virginia, United States] Other
RHIA, RHIT, or CCS preferred.

Minimum Work Experience

1-3 years experience in medical records or business office functions. Some knowledge of medical terminology preferred along with basic keyboarding skills
