Jackson Purchase Medical Center

Responsible for the operating and repairing the hospital heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical systems, as well as performs mechanical, carpentry and painting duties. Ensures that patient care equipment and environment is safe.
• Performs a variety of general semi-skilled maintenance repairs to equipment.
• Routine electrical maintenance, general mechanical maintenance of hospital, clinical equipment, kitchen equipment, office machines, general plumbing.
• Inspects equipment facility for proper operation and working condition.
• Maintenance on hot water heater system.
• Services and makes repairs to heating, air conditioning units, and refrigeration equipment.
• Cleans and performs preventive maintenance on hospital equipment. Changes filters, lubricates mechanical equipment and disposes of used non-reusable material appropriately.
• Performs electrical and safety test as required. Monitors equipment for defects.
• Secures tools, equipment and parts.
• Coordinates duties with other employees to be efficient, effective and productive.
• Performs repairs as indicated by repair manuals, procedural manuals, or code books.
• Maintains records of preventive maintenance schedules, work orders, and safety, electrical and equipment inspections. Provides information to order supplies and parts.
• Notifies supervisor of any unusual problems or questionable conditions related to the seven safety plans.
• Follows regulatory standards and pertinent codes when performing any task related to maintenance duties.
• Priorities work orders and completes requested work in a timely manner with entry of information into the computer system on completed orders.
• Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired concerning any information of patients or family here.
• Must follow and enforce accepted safety practices for patients and hospital.
• Must report safety hazards and initiate appropriate action.
• Must participate in safety instructional programs.

Job Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required. Previous experience preferred. Basic skills include; organizational, math, grammar/spelling, the ability to follow written and oral direction, the ability to read, write, speak, and understand oral direction.
