Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking a full-time Med/Surg Nurse Manager to join its team of medical professionals. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of patient care on the assigned unit. They coordinate the Med/Surg nursing activities to provide optimal patient care in a cost effective manner and continually monitors to assure compliance with nursing standards. This position reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer.

Job duties included, but are not limited to the following:

  • Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of hospital philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • -Develops goals and objectives for units of responsibility on annual basis and evaluates regularly to monitor progress and achievement.
  • Conducts staff meetings quarterly and as needed for purpose of disseminating information and quality improvements activities, sharing ideas and views, and to provide continuing education for staff.
  • Is dedicated to ensuring delivery of optimal care to every patient and to promoting comradery amongst the 24 hour health care team.
  • Interviews employees and makes recommendations concerning employment and position status.
  • Completes and reviews performance evaluations before completion of probation and annually to all personnel.
  • Makes regular rounds to observe and evaluate patient care needs and the quality of care that is received.
  • Completes Incident reports and quality concern reports in a timely manner and are submitted to CNO or PSO with evidence of follow-up and counseling as needed.
  • Initiates appropriate disciplinary action when necessary and document accordingly.
  • Schedules each employee to attend the annual mandatory education sessions. Monitors to assure that all competencies and unit-specific education (ACLS, CPR, etc.) requirements have been met.

Job Requirements


-Pennsylvania Registered Nurse License and BSN required

-Minimum 3 years of Nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred.

-Prior supervisory experience preferred.

-CPR and ACLS required


-Ability to be self-directed and independent

-Excellent Communication skills

-Ability to handle multiple priorities and requests in a changeable environment

-Work flexible hours to meet the needs of the department and organization
