Position Summary

Oversees all functions relating to general and specific medical staff services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree in business or related field; bachelors preferred.
  • Certification as a medical staff coordinator, or eligible to obtain certification as CPMSM within 5 years of hire.
  • Two years of credentialing experience within a hospital organization or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in computer technology and database applications. Credentialing software experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills

Essential Job Functional

  • Responsible for providing Medical Staff Services, coordinating the medical-legal aspects of the Medical Staff as they relate to professional credentialing, peer review, and professional practice evaluation of Medical Staff members.
  • Serves as an essential link between hospital management and the Medical Staff to promote and enhance good communications and positive working relationships with the Medical Staff.
  • Maintains numerous physician information data banks that affect patient admissions and treatments, surgery scheduling, and reimbursement.
  • Attends and supports all Medical Staff Committee meetings. Establishes systems to facilitate meetings and communication between medical staff, both within and outside their specialties, as well as with the hospital administration.
  • Provides for the development, establishment and enforcement of medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations, and policies that support a self-governed Medical Staff and its accountability to the hospital Board of Trustees.
  • Supports and coordinates the services of the Corporate Chief Medical Officer.

  • Strong PC computer skills including MS Office.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creativity, problem analysis and decision making.
