The Telemetry Technician assumes primary responsibility for the secretarial duties, equipment cleaning and supply restocking, and communication systems for a designated time frame for a specific nursing unit or department. The secretarial duties include, but are not limited to, transcribing physician orders, using the computer order entry system, maintaining a patient's medical record, ordering supplies, and greeting the public. The Telemetry Technician provides non-professional nursing duties appropriate for the age of the patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nursing Practice Act and hospital/department of nursing policies. The Telemetry Technician interprets telemetry readings and reports any changes or abnormalities to the registered nurse assigned to the patient.
