Job Description

Position Summary:

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) works collaboratively with the Senior Behavioral Health Unit (SBHU) care team to provide patient assessment and diagnosis, formulate treatment plans, prescribe medications, order laboratory tests, interpret test results, and provide patient and family education. The NP will document in patient medical record in accordance with the statutes, regulations and protocols regulationg the profession as well as the medical staff bylaws. The NP works under the supervision of the Medical Director and the SBHU Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to meet minimum hospital hiring standards.
  • Current Oregon Nurse Practitioner licensure and DEA certificate with appropriate prescriptive authority.
  • Minimum 2 years experience functioning as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner preferred or strong interest in mental health and psychiatric care for the geriatric populatation.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to recognize and refer or seek consult when issue is beyond scope of practice.
  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding preferred.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides fully integrative behavioral health services to the patients in the SBHU.
  • Provide individual, family and group therapies in collaboration with the SBHU care team,
  • Provide diagnostic evaluation and collaborative intervention between the therapy team and the medical director.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
