This position will require the applicant to be a Certified Nursing Assistant.

This position also requires that the applicant become competent in phlebotomy within the first 6 months of hire. (Phlebotomy training onsite)

  • Provides general nursing assistant care such as positioning patients, lifting and turning patients, applying/ utilizing special equipment, assisting in use of bedpan, commode and ambulating patients.
  • Prepares patients for meals, serves and removes food trays and assists with meals or feeds patients as necessary.
  • Answers patient call lights, anticipates patient's needs and makes rounds of assigned patients.
  • Transports patients to various departments for ordered tests/procedures.
  • Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, blood pressure and intake-output.
  • Reports patient complain of paid to supervising LPN/RN.
  • Observes patients' mental and physical conditions, reports any changes to supervising RN.
  • Communicates in a clear and concise manner to LPNs, RNs and medical staff.

Within six (6) months of hire, applicant will be able to show proficiency in phlebotomy.

  • Be able to select gauge needles, prepare veins to draw blood, assess patient needs and review patient history and reasons for drawing blood.

Job Requirements

Qualifications - External

High School Diploma or GED Required

Current Mississippi Certified Nursing Assistant License Required

BLS Required

Competency in Phlebotomy (Required within 6 months of hire)- Will be trained onsite

  • This position requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
