The Pre-Access Specialist will be responsible for verifying accurate insurance and demographic information, obtaining or verifying authorization or precertification, checking medical necessity, creating patient estimates, and having financial clearance conversations with patients for outpatient procedures (as assigned). The specialist should have the following skills: a good listener, analytical, detail oriented, make independent decisions, ability to advocate on patient’s behalf, unafraid to inquire about patient’s finances and ability to ask for payments in a professional manner. Additionally, the specialist will interact with patients during stressful situations and, as a result, must communicate both effectively and tactfully. Interacts with other departments (billing, care coordination, registration) in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner. 30 wpm, 95% accuracy
