Our Global Technology Services department is currently seeking a PostgreSQL Database Administrator to provide day to day production administration support, monitoring and troubleshooting to Intrado’s SQL Server footprint. This role supports several lines of our business, ensuring uptime of the servers 24x7. This role can work from our Mobile, Longmont, Dublin or Omaha office.
 
Day to day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Create, design, develop and implement logical and physical database schemas and tables
  • Optimize database architecture schema and structures, to include files, tables, and table spaces
  • Develop scripts, documentation, and procedures for database administration and testing
  • Establish periodic schedules to test validity of backups and ability to perform restores
  • Ensure data backups do not exceed configured space
  • Establish query standards for accessing databases of different sizes, selecting and upgrading recommended attributes
  • Provide tuning and performance of the database environment by monitoring optimum values for database parameters
  • Respond with a sense of urgency to production impacting problems
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
 
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS or a related field required, however equivalent experience may be substituted for educational requirements
  • Industry related certifications are preferred, but not required
Experience and Technical Skills
  • 2 years of database administration experience
  • Production experience PostgreSQL 8, 9 or 10 - installation/configuration, indexing/partitioning, transfering data and transaction logs, backup/recovery/PITR, etc.
  • Production experience with MySQL and/or DB2
  • Experience with Shell scripting
  • Experience upgrading and migrating to the cloud
  • Solid understanding of high availability failover replication
