A Process Analyst, Data Governance analyzes the University’s data processes and procedures to align them with data governance principles and policies, and identifies and remediates gaps throughout the analysis process.  An individual partners with stakeholders and business data owners across verticals to determine and optimize how they collect, store, secure and curate data to ensure that data is properly managed and provides the business with value to drive business insights.  A Process Analyst, Data Governance creates and refines the Data Governance Program and promotes data accountability, validates compliance, and tracks the Data Governance journey progress through scorecards and status reports.



Responsibilities

Accountabilities
1. Investigate, conduct interviews, and perform analysis related to current data lifecycle processes across multiple business data domains. Participate in business data process modeling sessions and documentation in sketch sessions.
2. Partner with business owners of data and Data Governance project team members spread across different verticals to gain alignment, promote engagement and participation with data governance efforts.
3. Research and apply data best practices to offer guidance to business data owners by identifying areas for data lifecycle improvement and potential solutions.
4. Provide weekly team status reports and updates on key business partners’ progress towards implementing Data Governance.
5. Create templates for data lifecycles and guide business owners through completion.
6. Conduct periodic reviews of vertical data lifecycles to ensure compliance with the Data Governance principles and policies.
7. Understand general business operations and their associated data subject areas.
8. Develop, analyze and review new and existing data lifecycle processes.
9. Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

Qualifications

Job Skills
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE :
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field
• Six (6) years of business analyst/business process improvement experience that includes experience building and/or analyzing data ingestion frameworks

ADDITIONAL/PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
• Experience training stakeholders on a new system or process
• Experience implementing regulatory data controls for an organization (e.g., PCI, SOX, FRB, GDPR, and related)
• Experience writing SQL queries
• Experience writing reports or operational dashboards
• Excellent communication, analytical, problem solving, organization and project management skills
• Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks and work within deadlines with little supervision
