Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Director of Quality and Patient Safety, this position will serve as al change agent to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and efficacy of the current and future care provided by associates at Watertown Regional Medical Center (WRMC). The incumbent will demonstrate a mastery of a variety of analytical methods and statistical modeling along with reporting/data visualization techniques. Will design and implement project plans, methodologies, and create reporting and data presentations appropriate for use by a wide variety of constituents throughout the WRMC enterprise. As a change agent, the incumbent will lead teams of associates to bring about process and practice modifications to ensure improvements in care delivery that will result in enhanced outcomes, reduce/eliminate factors in care or systems that result in hospital acquired harm and facilitate a culture which supports and safeguards patient safety at all levels of the organization’s operations. The incumbent will be able to exercise sound independent judgment and discretionary decision making, will develop and maintain positive, productive relationships with providers, associates and members of the administrative team.


Understands and supports the philosophy of care as is relates to coordination of services and supports to meet patients' individual needs.

Understands and supports the continual goals of patient focused care and services that ensure safety at all levels of the organization’s operations.

Collects outcome data as assigned. Audits records as required by CMS, TJC, other external bodies as well as internal and corporate requests.

Is familiar with DRG's and codes, according to the recognized classification system.

Work collaboratively with the IT programmers to develop effective methods and processes to gather data from sources which will facilitate implementation of the coding for larger clinical projects.

Works with Director of Quality and Patient Safety to establish policies and procedures to ensure sound methodologies for extracting data and designing analyses to facilitate clinical and business decision making.

Develop systems to extract data for basic reporting and analysis as assigned.

Manages multiple complex, inter-departmental projects to ensure adequate planning and control of scope, timeline and customer communication.

Develop expertise as it relates to the data from all types of clinical specialties and health care provider types.

Strategic Thinking: Proactively seeks to know the WRMC organizational structure, core leaders, decision makers, and relationships with other functional areas. 

Manage engagements and task performance relating to quality initiatives.

Solution Development: Produces well-structured, high-quality required documents. 

Researches and provides information required for solution alternatives analysis and discussion. Accountable and responsible for operationalizing quality initiatives with front line staff under the supervision of the Director of Quality and Patient Safety WRMC Clinical Operations: Understand WRMC's organizational structure, core leaders, decision makers as well as processes utilized in care delivery for patients.

Facilitate processes to assure standard quality and metrics are addressed. Establish cross-clinic department teams to share best practices that will improve performance results. Develop relationships and processes to interact routinely to meet metrics. Manage projects and process improvement.

LifePoint National Quality Program: Facilitates, supports, analyzes and reports organization-wide efforts related to the achievement of National Quality Program (NQP) designation through collaboration to implement change strategies, through data analysis and reporting as assigned. 

WRMC Hospital Quality Initiatives: Participate in ongoing internal Joint Commission activities for survey readiness and be accountable for bringing corrective actions, as they apply to operations, to fruition. Lead and facilitate processes for ongoing hospital and clinic tracer activities to ensure continued survey readiness and proactive improvement identification and remediation. Collaborate with clinic Department Leadership on enterprise-wide teams to develop strategies for performance improvement in areas such as, but not limited to, readmission reduction and suicide assessment/intervention, and provide leadership to facilitate implementation those strategies.

Functions as a change agent and leads cross-sectional teams of associates, as assigned, to bring about process modifications to improve the functioning of each clinical site, resulting in enhancements to the quality of patient care delivery and the promotion of processes and practices that ensure patient safety at all levels of the enterprise’s operations.

Regularly reviews the quality performance of each unit/department with the Director of Quality and Patient Safety.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education

□ Bachelor’s degree Preferred X Required

Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred

2 years of hospital based experience required.

2 years of analysis/statistical experience preferred, in ahealth care field, or demonstrated competence in related field.

1 year of quality improvement experience preferred.
