Job Summary This is a Department of Nursing Service position that provides delivery of patient care with the knowledge of a Registered Nurse. Must demonstrate the clinical ability to work as Primary RN on the Unit to which assigned. Must be able to coordinates the delivery of patient care on the Unit; completes required documentation; participates in patient/family teaching and discharge planning, effectively utilizing the Nursing Process.

Essential Functions

To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Provides leadership by working cooperatively and effectively with physicians, ancillary staff and other administrative and support personnel in maintaining the standards of professional nursing practice in the multidisciplinary clinical setting. Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.

Documents patient care given.

Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education: Required: 

Associate’s Degree 

Certification(s) required upon hire:

BCLS required on hire (once ACLS is obtained BCLS no longer required)

Certification(s) required within 60 days of hire:

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Certification(s) required within 6 six (6) months of hire:

PALS

TNCC

Required SkillsMinimum of

 1 years Med Surg/Telemetry experience .

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications:BCLS required on hire (once ACLS is obtained BCLS no longer required)Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 60 days of hirePALS and TNCC required within 6 months of hire- Not required by RN Traveler Competencies:: Moderate Sedation within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.EKG Course and NIHSS Stroke within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.

Licenses:Arizona Registered Nurse (RN) License or Compact State Registered Nurse (RN) License required on hire
