Person Memorial Hospital

Has primary responsibility for process of internal and external requests for copies of patient health care information, including the retrieval of medical records, computerized reports or form information maintained by hospital clinical departments, verifying of the information and only releasing copied or faxed medical information to requestors when proper authorization is established. Performs other duties as required to meet the needs of the Health Information Department.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required.

Minimum Work Experience
Prior medical records experience, insurance file room, or business office experience.

Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Required Skills
Knowledge of release of information regulations, both Federal and State. Problem solving and critical thinking skills. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to operate PC, copier and other office-related equipment.
