Examines patients with breathing-related conditions and conducts diagnostic testing. Consults with physicians to develop and implement a treatment plan for the patient. Performs physiotherapy and other treatments and teaches patients to use medications.
Minimum Education
Graduate of a Respiratory Care Program of Study for an Advanced Practice Level Respiratory Therapist, with an A.A.S. degree, or Certification of Graduation.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Required Skills
Licensed to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP). Certification by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support and ACLS at time of hire. Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT) is preferred. Certification in PALS within 90 days of hire.
Minimum Work Experience
One year of routine respiratory care experience preferred. Graduation from an Associate Degree level program can be substituted for one year of experience.
