The Nursing Float Pool RN provides delivery of patient care with the skills of an experienced Registered Nurse. She/he demonstrates advanced leadership skills while emulating Facility's Code of Conduct and Standards of Behavior.

The Float Pool RN provides patient care working in multiple units including ER, ICU, IMC, ASU, PACU, Cath Lab, Med/Surg, Acute Rehab, SNU, ACU and may fulfill the post-partum nurse position in OB.

All positions at Valley View Medical Center are part of an interdisciplinary team, and, as such, participate in the care and service delivery process through effective interaction with other team members.

Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation. The float pool RN must agree to work in any and all of the following units as well as maintain certifications and competencies to do so; ER, ICU, IMCU, PACU/ASU, Cath Lab, Med/Surg, Telemetry, SNU, OB (Labor if experienced), Post-partum, and Inpatient Acute Rehab.

Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
Ensures patient confidentiality and has a clear understanding of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Understands and carries out LifePoint Health Patient's Rights and Responsibilities.
Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assigned shift.
Provides direct patient care as needed in the unit the Float RN is assigned to.
Must be able to accept a staff assignment as required by any RN that works within that unit.
Responds to complaints about patient care and related services, and manages through established channels.
Performs role-specific duties as assigned, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers.
Provides assistance to the physician or other medical personnel in the assessment of patients and delivery of treatment, medications, labs, radiology reports and other life support equipment necessary.
Must be able to use the necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care within the units the RN floats.
Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Job Requirements

•   Arizona Registered Nurse (RN) License or Compact State Registered Nurse (RN) License

•   Minimum of  three (3) years’ experience in Critical Care including ER, PACU/ASU, ICU, IMCU, Cath Lab and OB. Minimum of two  (2) years’ experience in Med/Surg, Telemetry, SNU, Post-partum and Inpatient Acute Rehab.

•   Current TNCC, ACLS, NRP and PALS certification required based on Level assignment up on hire

•    Moderate Sedation & Deep Sedation competency within 60 days of hire


Required Education: Associate’s Degree

Preferred Education: Bachelor Degree
