Education: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Alabama. BLS required (must be current within 30 day from hire date). ACLS required (new employees have 6 months from hire date to complete).
Experience: Previous experience in acute care hospital setting preferred. Requirements will include successful completion of orientation checklist and skills/credentials/competency requirements of specific unit for identified age groups of patients.
Skills: Required ability to function in stressful situations. Verbal ability to present information and ideas related to nursing theory and practice. Ability to accept responsibility and accountability to provide, delegate, and coordinate nursing care provided on assigned units as required with leadership qualities. The position requires the cognitive ability and practical ability to provide nursing care appropriate to the patient population assigned, considering client age and diagnosis with full implementation of the nursing process to include assessment/reassessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for prolonged periods, walk frequently performs repetitive tasks/motions. Have good manual dexterity, ability to distinguish colors and have good eye/hand/foot coordination. Ability to lift 20lbs, do constant bending and squatting. Be able to hear alarms and telephone rings and have clear vision at 20 or more feet with or without vision corrective device.
