Our Observation Unit at SRMC bridges the gap between inpatient and outpatient. It may act as an extension of our Emergency Department to make sure that our patients receive the appropriate level of care based on their individual needs. Our nurses are highly skilled in assessing each patient and work with an interdisciplinary team of professionals to implement an individualized plan of care.
The Observation Unit Nurse provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
Reports to: Director Medical/Surgical B2

Job Requirements
Minimum Education
Associate’s degree in Nursing or RN Diploma - Required
Licenses: State of Tennessee or Multi-State Registered Nurse licensure - Required
Associate’s degree in Nursing or RN Diploma - Required
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing - Preferred
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Computer proficiency required
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) (American Heart Association) - Required upon hire
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (American Heart Association) - Required within 12 months of hire
