The Intensive Care Registered Nurse provides direct patient care while utilizing the nursing process following applicable scope and standards of practice. The ICU RN must demonstrate the ability to work as a Primary RN in ICU, coordinate the delivery of patient care within the assignment, complete required documentation, participate in inpatient/family teaching, utilizing the Nursing Process, and participate in discharge planning. Strives daily to provide all customers excellent care and promotes Havasu Regional Medical Centers' Standards of Behavior and duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assigned shifts.

Determines staffing level and assignments based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, patient acuity, and work/patient flow.

Responds to complaints about patient care and related services, and manages through established channels.

Ensures staff has the necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care.

Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.

Documents patient care given.

Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

Evaluates learning needs of the patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Works cooperatively and effectively with physicians, ancillary staff, and other administrative and support personnel in maintaining the standards of professional nursing practice in the multidisciplinary clinical setting.

CV/ICU

Demonstrates Hemodynamic monitoring competence, maintenance of epicardial pacemakers, Central line management, Chest tube management, Ventilator management, ECG Interpretation, Interpret & Manage lab results, Interpret & manage ABG results, Verbalizes & Demonstrates competence.

Collaborate with members of the multi-disciplinary team to coordinate and provide excellent patient care.

Assists with keeping patient rooms stocked, clean and orderly.

Performs clerical duties, aligned with nursing station activities.

Delegates & supervises LPN's & MCTs to gather patient information and provide care.

Bachelors Degree 

Required Licensure(s) Required Upon Hire
Arizona Registered Nurse (RN) License -or-

Compact State Registered Nurse (RN) License 


Certification(s) Required Upon Hire
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support 

Certification Required Within Six (6) Months of Hire

TNCC certification

Minimum Work Experience Preferred
At least 2 years ICU experience
