Job Description

Harris Regional Hospital

The Scheduler schedules patients using the Paragon Scheduling  by acquiring information through phone calls or personal contact with the following areas:  Ambulatory Surgery Unit, Radiology (CT, MRI diagnostic rooms, ultrasounds, nuclear medicine and mammograms at Harris and ultrasounds and open and closed MRIs for Swain), Cardiology, Physical Therapy and Occupational/Employee Health Screening. The Scheduler will coordinate arrangements for procedures if multi-departments are involved and update departments daily on current schedules by printing and distributing schedule reports. Schedulers are responsible for continually educating ancillary departments, hospital departments and physician offices on the scheduling system. 

This position is located on the campus of Harris Regional Hospital.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: The following qualifications are the minimum qualifications in order to adequately perform this job.  However, any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities would be acceptable, subject to any legal and/or regulatory requirements.

Education: High school diploma or GED required.  Medical terminology training is desired. 

Experience: Previous health care experience preferred and experience with scheduling a plus.

Job Knowledge: Excellent oral communication skills and telephone skills.  Must have good computer skills and be able to train other employees.  Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision and be flexible in performance of related tasks.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Eye and hand coordination, manual dexterity for computer skills and visual acuity and hearing corrected to normal required.  Extended periods of sitting required with some walking, stooping and bending.  Able to lift up to 20 lbs and reach above shoulder height.
