Performs scheduling and pre-registration for outpatient diagnostic testing. Preforms pre-screening of all orders to ensure they are valid and contains all of the required documentation. Performs authorization audit which includes completing all required forms, verifying insurance coverage by contacting the insurance company to verify benefits and authorization. Essential Functions

Scheduler: Preforms scheduling which includes completing all required fields in outreach scheduler, retrieves orders in system and reviews for accuracy prior to inputting test to outreach, contacts order audit when necessary to resolve order issues. Provides accurate prep for scheduled services including contrast and allergy protocol, completes orders in queue/callback folders including notes in specified timeframe.  Pre-registration: Contacts patient or patient representative prior to the scheduled procedure to obtain necessary demographic information and documentation. Provides an explanation of the process and addresses concerns and questions. Reviews PFR and collects any patient responsibility portion. Authorization audit: Performs authorization audit which includes completing all required forms, verifying insurance coverage by contacting the insurance company to verify benefits and authorization. Contacts patients to collect and enter all demographics, employer and insurance information in the hospital system, if the information is already in the system then verify that information is correct. Retrieves referral/ notification of scheduled services. Contacts physician’s office when necessary to resolve any issue regarding prior authorization or referral forms. Order audit: Preforms pre-screening of all orders to ensure they are valid and contain the following components: patients name, date of birth, test type written and or CPT code, physicians signature, date of order, retrieves all orders in electronic fax file to rename in the following format; name: date of birth: test: date received, contacts physician’s office when necessary to resolve any issues regarding missing components via the fax back process. Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy. Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members. Communicates with the physician's office and appropriate personnel regarding scheduled procedures. Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization as necessary. Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow up.
