  • Cultivate, manage, and mentor a high-performing team of 10 – 12 software engineers while enabling excellent teamwork

  • Design and deliver practical APIs, abstractions, and execution platform services

  • Directly and indirectly lead a team of offshore software engineers towards the development and implementation of program goals

  • Take ownership for the overall planning, execution, and success of complex, cross-functional technical projects

  • Work closely with business and technology partners to define platform roadmaps and ensure that software development efforts are aligned to strategic business priorities

  • Ensure quality of deliverables, setting standards to ensure resiliency, fault-tolerance, performance, and scalability

  • Accountable for all parts of the software development lifecycle and the technical debt in their software

  • Conduct release planning, sprint planning, design reviews, code reviews, retrospectives, and other related activities

  • Ensure the stability and reliability of our production platforms and lending services

  • Ensure effective and timely communication of status and issues

  • Evangelize adoption of development best practices such as agile and lean methodologies, DevOps, continuous delivery, and test automation

  • Proactively help team members and make suggestions to improve practices


  • 9+ years of professional software development experience, with 3+ years of experience as an engineering manager building and leading strong engineering teams

  • Experience with automated delivery pipelines, agile delivery, and test-driven development

  • Enthusiastic embrace of DevOps culture and collaborative software engineering techniques and methods

  • Conversant in several styles of architecture (e.g. real-time, batch, orchestration, event-driven)

  • Fluency in multiple programming languages (e.g. Python, Java, C#, COBOL, C++)

  • Experience designing and aligning software designs to target state architectures, taking scalability, reliability, and performance into account

  • Experience with algorithms and data structures and knowledge of software design patterns

  • Strong knowledge of one or more relevant database technologies

  • Experience with iSeries development and related technologies (e.g. ILE COBOL, MQ, DB2) is a strong plus

  • BA/BS degree in computer science, related field, or equivalent practical experience is required

  • Technical and/or industry certifications is a plus


  • Ability to lead, motivate, and support resources to achieve high delivery demands

  • Ability to maintain high standards, develop others, and create an environment where people can innovate and do their best work

  • Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders, mobilize and motivate teams, resolve conflict, and execute with limited information and ambiguity

  • Demonstrable passion for technology, innovation, and quality with a craftsman-like approach to building software

  • Ability to apply acquired knowledge from prior experience in new and complex situations

  • Can articulate business needs and translate them into technology solutions

  • Results oriented with enthusiasm for continuous learning

  • Confident communicator with demonstrable ability to argue a point concisely and deal positively with conflicting viewpoints
