Job Description
Fauquier HealthThe Histotechnologist maintains current professional knowledge and skills to perform testing as a Histologist in the Clinical Laboratory, including fluid cytology preparation. Responsible for producing high quality slides in an efficient manner consistent with laboratory and hospital policy. Performs special staining, frozen sections, gross examination and assistance and autopsy assistance.
Job Requirements
Associate’s degree ormeets requirements under the ASCP Grandfather clause, certified prior to2004. Completion of histology clinicalrotation. Histotechnician (ASCP). Requires critical thinking skills, decisivejudgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to workin a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Preferred: Degree in Histology. Histotechnologist (ASCP). 1 year clinical Histology experience.
