Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

This is a Department of Nursing - Surgical Services position that provides delivery of patient care with the knowledge of a Registered Nurse.

Reports to: Clinical Nurse Manager/Director

FLSA: Non-exempt To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.

Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Must be able to coordinate the delivery of patient care on the Unit; perform head to toe assessment of patient; complete required documentation: participate in patient/family teaching and discharge planning, effectively utilizing the nursing process.

Provides leadership by working cooperatively and effectively with physicians, ancillary staff and other administrative and support personnel in maintaining the standards of professional nursing practice in the multidisciplinary clinical setting.

Provides the basic leadership required of a Registered Nurse for subordinate staff on the Unit

Maintains quality delivery of patient care by completing patient assignments in compliance with the Nursing Process, the Arizona Nurse Practice Act, TJC and State regulations and established Hospital Policies and Procedures
