RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs general accounting tasks and ad-hoc analysis, participating on special projects as needed. Support Controller's group with financial reporting, financial analysis and process improvement.

  • Prepares monthly journal entries for entry into the general ledger system on a monthly basis by collecting necessary data, analyzing and/or allocating costs and preparing audit trail support for the journal entries.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and prepare monthly reconciliation package
  • Prepare monthly variance analyses for balance sheets accounts as part of month --end close process
  • Prepare monthly account analysis and research to ensure accuracy and understanding of account balances and activity
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations
  • Participate in special projects as required
  • Enter payroll journal entries based on ADP reports for multiple organizations
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • 3-5 years of general ledger experience working in an organization performing federal contract work
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint and COGNOS
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong communication skills, with ability to effectively interact and communicate, both oral and written, with individuals across the organization
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented individual with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, however some extended or weekend hours may be required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 25 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.
