  • Researches and produces high quality technical content in English, communicating complex technical ideas in an understandable, consumable format.
  • Works collaboratively with other writers, information architects, engineers, and project managers to deliver a Fanatical Experience® to our customers.

  • Mentors developing colleagues and participates in content-related communities outside of the organization.
  • Advanced English communication skills including spelling and grammar.
  • Deep understanding of procedure writing and documentation architecture.
  • Demonstrates a systematic and structured problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to handle short-term deliverable timeframes.
  • Ability to successfully work and promote inclusiveness in small groups.
  • Ability to learn, use, and explain advanced technologies.
  • Has or develops advanced skills using mark-up languages such as Markdown and RST.
  • Preferred: Experience with user experience design, instructional design, or multimedia content creation.
  • Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services.
  • Works independently, receives minimal guidance with only general direction from a manager, then determines the best approach to accomplish own work.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • Uses project tracking tools (for example, JIRA and GitHub) to communicate requirements and deliverables.
  • Performs ramp up and on-boarding activities to support a collaborative authoring model.
  • Performs peer reviews of content produced by colleagues for adherence to the Rackspace technical style guide.
  • Coordinates with subject matter experts (SMEs) as necessary to review submitted content for technical accuracy.
  • Analyzes existing and potential content and identifies areas for improvement.
  • Informally mentors new or junior staff members.
  • Successfully delivers multiple concurrent projects that satisfy requirements within schedule.
  • Works autonomously with minimal guidance.
  • Can provide guidance and training to new team members.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a writing or computer science-related field required.
  • At the manager’s discretion, additional relevant experience can substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Advanced degree in a writing or computer science-related field preferred.
  • Requires 5-8 years of experience in a content or technology-related field where English is the primary language used in creating work products.
  • General office environment.
  • Moderate levels of stress might occur.
  • No special physical demands required.
