Job Description

Position Summary

Responsible for drug distribution throughout the hospital/health system. The manager coordinates pharmaceutical resources to maintain the integrity, availability, and appropriate application of drug therapy that assures positive therapeutic outcomes for patients.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Maintains current pharmacist license in Oregon
  • Possess computer skills for order entry, word processing and clinical interaction
  • Experience with drug use evaluation/monitoring, clinical interventions
  • Effective communication skills with allied health care practitioners
  • Experienced in sterile products preparation, including TPN, Chemotherapy
  • BLS and ACLS within three months of hire and maintain as current

Essential Job Functions

  • Coordinates and oversees the organization-wide pharmacy services. Directs broad operations to ensure the provision of comprehensive departmental services in compliance with all regulatory agencies and hospital requirements
  • Ensures a collaborative departmental approach to long-range strategic operational planning, care and service design and development of organizational policies that reflect the mission of the organization
  • Demonstrates responsible management of all departmental resources and continuously assesses, measures and improves departmental performance
  • Demonstrates clinical/technical and managerial competency. Ensures that the professional development needs of management and staff are met
  • Maintains departmental standards for provision of pharmaceutical care, and assures positive patient outcomes related to drug therapy

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Management experience is highly desirable to include budget preparation, quality improvement and staff/team leadership skills
  • Demonstrate good judgment, patience and maintain a professional demeanor at all times
  • Must be able to work in a busy and stressful environment
  • Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, Electronic medical records software
  • Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize
  • Interpersonal verbal communication and advanced math skills
  • Creativity, problem analysis and decision making
  • Ability to work varied shifts
