Providence Health- Downtown is looking for an experienced Respiratory Therapist Student, PRN to join our team.

Essential Functions

Perform and teach aerosolized medication therapies for the treatment of obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchospasm, wheezing, aid in mucociliary clearance, treatment of pulmonary infections, and treatment of hypoxia of an unknown etiology.

Perform and teach airway clearance modalities for the purpose of assisting the patient in the mobilization of bronchial secretions.

Must be able to draw and run ABG’s.

Must be able to auscultate and describe breath sounds. Must be able to chart using Meditech.

Must be able to communicate with co-workers, physicians, and patients.

Position requires the ability to lift and roll heavy equipment (>50lbs) in a safe manner to all parts of the hospital.

Position may be physically demanding and will require long periods of time spent standing.

Exposure to isolation patients at time will require wearing of mask and gown, latex free supplies are available, but periods of time in isolation is a feature of floor therapy. Position is shift work and off hours must be worked.

Inability to work different shifts may affect availability of work.

Must be able and willing to work with all ages of patients in a competent manner.

Able to report to work in a timely manner and dressed appropriately.

Must present a professional image while at work. Initiate and maintain oxygen therapy systems to treat or reverse hypoxemia, provide supplement oxygenation post anesthesia or myocardial infarction.

Observes and supports hospital policies.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

MinimumWork Experience

Successful completionof the first semester of course work while enrolled in the respiratory programlisted above.


Student RespiratoryTherapists must be actively enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapyprogram.

Basic Life Support(BLS) from the American Heart Association.
